Chernobyl Everywhere - Radioactive Earth part 1

This is the first of several articles on my part designed to expose the nuclear power plant industry. It’s my modest contribution to the exposure. The more the merrier, I say.

Many people, including several «environmentalists», claim that nuclear power will save us from Global Warming, which is kind of funny, since that is just yet another example of the cure being worse, far worse, than the disease. I’ve found this to be very common in civilization. The large amounts of human-created radiation and isotopes now soaking the planet are the worst poison mankind has ever conceived.

Greenpeace published the article below in late 1998. It isn’t exaggerated in any way, but rather quite understated. Time, like common sense, has long since given them, and many others, right.

And if you want to know what the British government and the red/green government in Germany have done about the information Greenpeace supplied them with, that one is easy, too.

On the contrary, the nuclear train keeps running day and night, crisscrossing the globe.

Amsterdam, 9 October. - The area around the Sellafield reprocessing plant (UK) is as heavily contaminated with radioactivity as the zone around the stricken Chernobyl reactor in Ukraine. This is the conclusion emerging from the analyses of soil samples from both areas commissioned by Greenpeace to the University of Bremen (1).

Over the past few weeks the University of Bremen analysed the samples taken by Greenpeace in the area around Chernobyl. A comparison with radioactive pollution in the area around the UK reprocessing plant at Sellafield leads to the alarming conclusion that some of the figures for radioactivity at Sellafield are even higher than those for the Chernobyl area.

Sellafield is a slow-motion Chernobyl, an accident played out over the last four decades, said Mike Townsley of Greenpeace International. While an area of 30km radius around Chernobyl is prohibited access for people and any agricultural activity, there are no such restrictions around Sellafield.

Greenpeace will present these results today in Hamburg, to urge the new SPD/Green coalition Government to act now on their long-held policies of opposing continued reprocessing at Sellafield and La Hague in France. The SPD and Greens will meet on Sunday 11 October to discuss their nuclear policy, and it seems possible that they will cancel their second set of contracts for reprocessing. They will also examine ways to cancel the base-load contracts already signed for an initial period of ten years.

The region around the plutonium factory at Sellafield is as similarly contaminated with heavy radioactivity as the area around the calamitous Chernobyl reactor in Ukraine said Heinz Laing of Greenpeace Germany. An end must be put to this now. The nuclear industry and the German Government share the blame for this insidious disaster. Not one gramme more nuclear waste should be allowed to be delivered to Sellafield or La Hague. Deciding to stop this is the least a Red-Green coalition must immediately do.

People living by the reprocessing plant in Sellafield are today filing a suit against the Federal Export Office in Eschborn, which authorises nuclear exports abroad in the name of the Federal Government. The accusation made by the complainants says reprocessing German nuclear waste at Sellafield impairs their right to life and freedom from bodily injury.

On the 20th October, the English and Welsh Environment Agency will meet to consider new authorisations for radioactive discharges from Sellafield. Greenpeace believes that this latest revelation, combined with the commitments made by the UK Government at the OSPAR meeting last July to substantially reduce discharges from reprocessing at Sellafield, should serve as a warning to the Environment Agency that levels of contamination around the Sellafield plant are already so severe that any further contamination presents an unacceptable risk to both current and future generations.

For information:

(1) Pollution with the americium-241 radioactive isotope in a soil sample eight hundred meters from the reactor in the Chernobyl disaster, for example, is around 1,300 becquerels per kilogram. In soil sampled seven miles away from the Sellafield plant, pollution from this isotope is as much as 30,000 becquerels per kilogram. The analyses carried out for Greenpeace by the University of Bremen also found cobalt-60 values of up to 40 becquerels per kilogram, and pollution from caesium-137 in concentrations of up to 9,400 becquerels per kilogramme, seven miles from the UK reprocessing plant. Seven miles from the Chernobyl reactor, on the other hand, fewer than ten becquerels of cobalt-60, and approximately 7,400 becquerels of caesium-137, were measured per kilogram.

Dead dead dead
Dead dead dead
Dead as doornails people
Of this kingdom of the dead

I finally got inspired
Walking these streets
Of meticulous boredom
In a run of the mill town
In a state of the art
Place of fear
Nothing is up for grabs
And nothing is worth having
And life hardly feels worth living

Dead are the faceless people
Of this finely grown stone
Dead dead dead
Preserved in poison
And hard-to-breathe dust

Tired voices
Tired faces
Put the world to sleep
Go home
Stay in bed
Never lift your head
Never open your eyes
Never raise your voice
Go to sleep early
Never wake up

Lips are constantly moving
Yapping all day long
Never saying shit
Only the tombstones talk
In a cold fever of rain and ashes

Not Fit to Sustain Life

This is old news, confirmed time and time again, from the upper to the lower planetary ecological levels: Life on Earth is destroyed under the onslaught of the modern human society. Slowly but surely we ruin our own chances of survival.

In 1999, during the 16. international botanical congress, Dr. Jane Lubchenko from Oregon State University and her colleagues presented the preliminary results of human footprints on Earth. Humans have transformed nearly half of the land, and there are fifty dead zones (areas with little or no oxygen) in the ocean. Further research, and other research groups have confirmed these results later on, and revealed an increasingly worsened condition.

In bigger and smaller ways the planet is transformed from a vital, living organism into something gray and lifeless. And the same is also true for humanity and all life.

These and other startling revelations are, as usual, not given much attention in the established media. Some isolated cases are reported, but the big picture, the inevitable result of the poisoning and destruction of the life-giving globe is hardly reported at all. This is not such a puzzle once a person realizes that The Fourth eState supports all the other estates, the grand Power present in all major public and private ruling bodies. The establishment and its eager servants support what is happening. This sounds incredible, given that what they’re truly doing is to lay the foundation for their own suicide. But thus is today’s world: collective suicide has become the norm, and all, willing and unwilling victims alike are caught in its insane web, caught from birth, with few or no chances of escaping its countless trappings.

The celebrated media establishment could last year, for instance, giddily report the happy news that «millions of people» participated in the tree planting, garbage picking, and protests wishing for greener cities on the World Environment Day, and that sixty percent of the world’s population would live in cities within 2030. With such enthusiasm it isn’t strange that so much is done…

More and more land is suffocating beneath concrete, asphalt, plastic and glass. Ever-bigger parts of the planet are soaked in poison. And are decreasingly fit to sustain life.

The United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) has published an atlas showing how badly human development has influenced the environment, ecology and all life on Earth. One can see it, on all levels, everywhere.

The destruction isn’t decreasing but increasing.

So, what happens? What’s being done with all this knowledge, this realization that everything has gone totally off the deep end?

Nothing. That’s what. Nothing of significance is being done to stop the insanity, the collective suicide. As it often is in today’s society, there is no lack of information, but rather a fundamental lack of desire to do anything about it, to act on unambiguous information. As incredible as it sounds, stronger forces in today’s world keep drastic measures from being implemented. Mechanisms, institutions of oppression and terror, developed through centuries and millennia, halt all true attempts at inception. Doorkeepers, living or dead or other dead objects, are present at nearly every critical nexus, every place in time and space where true opposition may flower beyond a given level. And if there is no control post present, one will be built more than fast enough.

So, is there hope in the hopelessness? Is there any hope at all in breaking the vicious circle?

Certainly. The old, tired clich├ę «as long as there is life, there is hope» certainly applies here. Not hope that there will be any use in attempting to change the system to the better, but that it is possible to remove it from the very face of the surface of the Earth, from every single place in the Universe, except as a distant memory. Responsible people must simply stop playing the tyrants’ game, that’s all. They must form groups at the edge of and outside society’s institutions, never participating in their false hope, in order to one day or one night become many enough to crush the system, to destroy the destruction, so to speak.

To work within the system to change it will never lead to anything, not to anything but more destruction, terror and death. Anything done to «improve the system» will only worsen the condition for all Life on Earth.

The Book of Shadows

The Witch keeps a diary, a diary of shadows, where he or she writes down everything experienced beyond the mundane life. The book is always thick as a brick, as mist, because the life of a witch is so eventful and so beyond interesting that there will always, every new day and night be new things to write about, to recall and tell. One second in a witch’s life is more exciting than a hundred years of a mundane existence. A witch documents his or her life, because his or her life is worth documenting, and sharing with others.

A witch is a seeker, seeking knowledge and understanding and experience beyond boundaries, beyond narrow interpretations of Life. And thus such a person also seeks kindred souls, inevitably, because there is strength in numbers and joy in sharing. A book of shadows, even though it is quite personal for any given witch, can be shared among many, not only through the course of one lifetime, but through generations. And it is. What we do in life echoes in Eternity, whether we write it down or not.

We are piles of experience, growing ourselves.

I sit here, in my dark attic, making my Magick. There is power in spells, if they come from that place of fire within, where we all burn and boil. Power rests within a Human Being, not outside us. Words, enchantments, spells, crystal balls, tarot and everything of what I call crutches are useless without the fire burning in us all. This is a Fire way beyond the physical, one to rival the Universe itself, because it is the very Universe made flesh.

Witches have invented aid through the ages, various conduits, various ways to focus Power, but they are not really necessary, and once a witch realizes this, they can be quite useful.

I reach out to the Fire, reach back into the distant past, distant future, the night of future past, now, where I hold all that in my hand, and transform myself. There is a sound, a cry in the night. I throw my bait into the boiling river of time and Shadow.

I sit here, by my table of wood and mist, with my bell and book and candle, calling to Eternity.

Use of Cellular Phones Leads to Brain Tumor

A new study, made by Swedish scientists, published in the scientific magazine International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health, confirms what all critical, independent studies have told us for years: Use of cellular (mobile) phones is very, very unhealthy, and can easily turn lethal.

The study states categorically that if you speak more than an hour a day in your cell phone, your risk of developing a brain tumor is doubled.

- The study is the biggest of its kind, Lennart Hardell, a professor employed at the University hospital of the city of ├śrebro, and one of the co-writers of the report tells the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

Over nine hundred cancer patients during the years 1997 to 2003 have been compared to a control group of over 2000 people. The bottom line is that people using cell phones and even cordless phones extensively over an hour a day over a ten-year period are twice as likely to develop brain tumors compared to the control group.

- A cordless phone works more or less like a cell, but with a lesser range, Hardell says. – On the other hand people tend to speak longer in a cordless compared to a cell, and therefore the risk is high even there.

The researchers have also seen that the risk is much higher on the side of the head where a person usually holds his or her phone.

Hardell and the others are prepared for harsh counterattacks. It has happened before and will come this time as well, as certain as day follows night.

- That is so with all research, he says. – But especially so when studies challenge major economic interests.

Concerns were raised as early as ten years ago about the dangers of using cell phones, but nothing has ever been done about it. As is often the case voices critical to scientific «advances» are often drowned in the buzz, and the use of this new wonder toy spread fast as wildfire to all parts of modern society. It can’t be overstated and can’t be stated often enough: There was no lack of warnings. But for every new study proving the danger, the powerful industrial forces paid a bunch of loyal and greedy scientists to produce yet another false report. As with the tobacco industry and the lot of other industries these people are clearly guilty of murder, and they should be treated accordingly.

Cell phones are as common as grass today, and yet another ticking time bomb in our midst.

Nothing is done about it.

Nothing what so ever.

On the contrary, the use of cell phones is encouraged, and the insanity continues.

This is no April’s Fool. It should have been, like the many other insanities currently flourishing in modern human society, but it isn’t. Because that is how the world works (or not) today. Because that is how the tyrants, the «masters» of the world want it to be. Civilization thrives on insanity, because it is insanity, an organized form for it unheard of in pre-civilized societies.
